TJ Maxx is a fun retail store that has a variety of things that you want but do not need. It is similar to Target (expect the groceries) in that TJ Maxx tells you what you need when you walk in the door, not the other way around. In order to shop here correctly you are going to need at least an hour and a half and a whole lot of willpower.

The first thing you are going to do once you walk in the automatic doors is make an immediate right. You will find an assortment of hand bags, wallets, and even luggage. You should look through them all and imagine an outfit that goes with each one.

After that, you migrate towards the jewelry will admire a pair of earrings that you wish you could have. You pick them up, but are determined not to buy anything today so you put them back. Don’t forget to try on a pair of sunglasses and a floppy shade hat while you are over there.

Next, you spy the make-up and feel called towards it. You eye the make-up brushes. They are so cute and soft and tempting. Then you remember you don’t wear make-up (like myself) or that you definitely just need to wash the brushes that you have at home.

From there you meander to the soap and other skin care products. You picture yourself as an influencer on Youtube and boast about products that make you look and feel like a million bucks that all cost under five dollars.

After getting distracted by the shoes (even though you know they don’t carry size 11), you make it back into the most dangerous part of the store. The home decor. Need a candle? No. Are you still going to smell every single one? Of course you are!

“Oh that would be a cute laundry basket!”

You know you have no intentions of journaling but that one looks so cute that you would be tempted to try it.

“The window sill can’t hold another plant but I need this pot!”

“I think my bed needs another throw pillow?”

After designing your dream home and decorating every room in your mind, you spot the clearance rack of clothing. Good thing the fitting rooms are still closed for the pandemic or you’d be in trouble.

Even if you don’t have children, or nieces and nephews, you look through the children’s clothes and dress them up perfectly for a family photo. They even have a men’s clothing section so you can dress your imaginary husband too!

Now that you have gone the full circle you make one more lap to pick up the items that you cannot live without. You wait in the ridiculously long line, along with the others who failed to leave the items on the shelf. Don’t worry, you’ll look great in those new earrings and one of your plants is dying so you had to have the pot for a new one anyway.
